Terms and conditions
Last updated: 10 April 2026
These terms (“Terms”) apply when you use Cook Local’s website and applications (together the “Platform”) to browse home kitchens, place orders, or operate as a supplier. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights under UK law. Those rights are not excluded except where the law allows. For general information, see Citizens Advice.
1. Information about us
The Platform is operated by Mantra Digital Magic Ltd, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom, whose registered office is at 23 Sierra Drive, Aylesbury HP18 0YQ, United Kingdom. You may contact us at support@cooklocal.app.
2. What Cook Local does
Cook Local connects customers with independent suppliers (home cooks and small kitchens) who list menus and time windows (“drops”) on the Platform. When you order food through Cook Local, you are buying that food from the supplier. Mantra Digital Magic Ltd provides the Platform, facilitates ordering and (where applicable) payment processing through our payment partner (Stripe), and may act as commercial agent for the supplier in collecting payment, as described at checkout.
Suppliers are responsible for preparing food, complying with food law, allergen information, and (where offered) delivery or collection arrangements they describe. Cook Local is not the manufacturer of the food and is not liable for how a supplier runs their kitchen, except where we are at fault in operating the Platform itself.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate registration information and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity on your account unless we have failed to keep our systems secure. We may suspend or close accounts where we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, or breach of these Terms, or where required by law or payment partners.
4. Service availability
Menus, drops, delivery areas, and collection slots depend on each supplier and may change. If an order cannot be placed (for example the drop has closed or your address is outside a delivery zone), we or the supplier will indicate this in the app. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Platform.
5. Orders
When you submit an order, it may need to be accepted by the supplier. A contract for the food is between you and the supplier once the order is confirmed in line with the flows shown in the Platform (for example after payment is authorised where you pay online). You must be legally able to enter into a contract (for the UK, typically aged 18 or over for these services).
You are responsible for the accuracy of items, quantities, collection or delivery details, and for any allergy or dietary information you must communicate to the supplier. Many dishes may contain allergens; suppliers aim to describe allergens where required, but you should always check with the supplier if you have severe allergies. Cook Local cannot guarantee that kitchen environments are free from allergens.
6. Collection, delivery, and payment
Options shown at checkout (for example collection, delivery where offered, or pay at pickup) depend on the supplier and the drop. Fees, service charges, and taxes are shown before you confirm. Payments are processed securely; card details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us as full card numbers.
If you choose pay-at-pickup or equivalent, payment rules shown at order and checkout apply. Failed or disputed payments may result in order cancellation or restrictions on your account.
7. Cancellations and refunds
You may be able to cancel before food preparation starts or within the windows stated in the app. After preparation has begun, cancellation may not be possible without charge. If the supplier or we cancel your order, you will not be charged, or we will refund authorised payments using the original payment method where applicable.
Your statutory rights for faulty goods or services apply. For problems with food quality or fulfilment, contact the supplier in the first instance; you may also contact Cook Local support and we will help coordinate where appropriate.
8. Prices and fees
Prices are set by suppliers unless stated otherwise. Cook Local may charge platform or service fees as shown at checkout. Prices include VAT where applicable. Obvious pricing errors may be corrected before acceptance; if you have already paid, you will be offered a correction or a refund.
9. Supplier obligations (summary)
If you register as a supplier, you agree to list accurate information, comply with food hygiene and labelling requirements, honour confirmed orders or cancel them in line with Platform rules, and complete Stripe Connect onboarding where you receive payouts. Additional supplier terms may be presented in the supplier dashboard or onboarding flows.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under English law, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or breach of statutory rights as consumers where applicable.
Subject to that, Cook Local’s total liability arising out of or in connection with the Platform (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to us for the Platform in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) £100, except where a different cap is not allowed by law. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or indirect or consequential loss, except where such exclusion is unlawful.
11. Intellectual property
Cook Local names, logos, and the Platform’s design and software are protected. You may not copy, scrape, or misuse them except as needed for normal use of the service.
12. Privacy and cookies
Our use of personal data is described in our Privacy policy and Cookie policy.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by reasonable means (for example email or an in-app notice). Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance, except where your statutory rights require otherwise.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
